As a youth in Iran, Armin Navabi was advised that if a Muslim boy died before the age of fifteen, God, in his infinite benevolence, would ensure that he went to heaven. Terrified that he would miss his step and fall into divine disfavour, Armin threw himself out of a window when he was fourteen, hoping to cash in on this guarantee. Happily he did not perish, although he spent many months in a wheelchair. This gave him a good deal of time to think, and the end point of his reflections was atheism.
Later he founded Atheist Republic, a non-profit organisation aimed at creating a worldwide community of atheists, and with the purpose of joining in the controversy that is raging these days about the status of religion in general. Why There Is No God is his primer for new participants in the debate. It is a good-natured book offering twenty arguments for the existence of God and adumbrating the atheist responses to them.

i don’t know if there’s a god or not. i do not understand war as something we think as a valid way of changing things. Certainly God wouldn’t allow war. People pray for God to change his perfection for selfish reasons.
Yet i see rainbows, love, joy, even in the worst of times. i see birth ushering in the next shift, and death shows how much an unseen force called life takes from a body when it goes.
For me, as long as there are things I cannot explain or understand, there will be a god.
You don’t know whether there’s a god or not, but you ‘certainly’ know what he wants and thinks? The number of religions, and that they include vile hateful divisive rhetoric should be evidence enough that IF there’s a god he’s sick and twisted. Could he not prevent innocent children dying in the rubble of wars? Does he have to use dead children to appeal to the minds of the sick adults he created in his sick image? If there is ANY evidence of god, it’s not pointing to a good one. No matter what your wishful thinking tells you.
God and Religion were invented for a purpose, both of em have simply outlived their purpose; nevertheless, it would have still made sense, if these had evolved like we do! Atheism is perhaps an evolutionary thing, too damn fucking slow a process, but inevitable !
His present activities ensures that rhetoric of Islam that , had he died before the age of 14 he would go to heaven .
There is something in each of us but it is us it isn’t better than us it isn’t a god it is us simple there is an edgy force life force or wee wouldn’t be breathing but it is not more has no place to call itself god. With out body’s and brains there isn’t an existence of anything so I believe no god deffo atheist. I’ve experienced christianity and I have stuffed off the ego of this fictitious character and ended it’s lying hold on me. It could never call itself god wen it is every person not higher than anyone wen it is a peodphile a murderer it is just energy supply that is all.people it’s you and its me without body’s and brains rec it is no one nothing by useless energy
I, went to church at 7 years, listened as the venerated pastor spoke, but somehow, I couldn’t understand how a god who loved me more than I loved myself would throw me, or anyone else into hellfire!
